January Resolution Recap

One month down, eleven months to go! It's time to evaluate my progress on those three "adventures" that I set out to tackle this year. These recaps will just be a ripping off of the bandaid, so let's dive into it.

ADVENTURE #1 - FITNESS ADVENTURE

Well, it's the moment of truth. I don't feel all of the numbers reflect what truly happened this month. As you can see, I managed to do all of the workouts except TWO.

*INSERT APPLAUSE*

However, one of my numbers didn't acknowledge this fact as much as I wish it would have. While I lost 1-3 inches on all of my measurements (except my arm...I'm bad at measuring that, so I gave up), I gained 1.5lbs. I'm not stressing it (trying not to anyway), since my body likes to fluctuate in this range, and am trying to focus more on the success of the inches that I've lost, and the amount of workouts completed.

Sometimes life can get in the way, but I managed to find time to squeeze in the majority of the workouts. I've actually started to look forward to working out and am enjoying how I feel after I complete a workout. I can tell the difference in my ab strength, which was a major accomplishment for me.

Next month begins 10 weeks of Yoga Booty Ballet! I received these dvds as a gag gift from a former coworker, but they have turned out to be one of the best gifts I've ever received.

I also think it's odd that I planned to spend the first quarter of this year doing workout styles that I would normally avoid at all costs (yoga and pilates). I'm trying to surprise my body, and so far it's been working for me.

ADVENTURE #2 - SAVINGS ADVENTURE

I was able to place the $250 in my saving's account that I was set to place in there for the month. I have an automatic $25 from each paycheck put in savings, and my Christmas money immediately went in there as well. I also placed a check that I received from Ebates, and the money Granny B sends me each month straight into savings. However, life happened I ended up having to take all of this money out, but I'm still proud of myself for not spending it immediately. Even though I had to take it all out of the account, my account was still at the amount I started the year off at. I'm pleased with that.

I took advantage of this adventure to begin monitoring my spending habits. I'll admit, they are horrible. This month, I was able to control those urges to spend the money that I didn't have. Hopefully I can carry those lessons over into February.

(And the rest of 2015 too!)

ADVENTURE #3 - READING ADVENTURE

Wow! I was impressed at the speed at which I blew through books this month. Some months are more difficult than others to find the time to squeeze in reading, but anytime I had some free time this month, I found myself reading. While I didn't read near as many on my Kindle as I would have liked, I was able to find some amazing finds at my library! (I heart my library!)

The total count for the end of January was 9 books! Click here to see the posts on these.

Here's to a mostly successful January, and a (hopefully) even more successful February!
