I love Stacey Ballis.
I think it's a shame that my library doesn't have ANY of her books available, even an electronic format!
As I've mentioned before, it's hard for me to pay lots of money for an electronic book. so when there was an e-book deal on one of her books that I hadn't read yet, I snatched it up!
After reading it, I realized I would have paid full price for this book if I had it all to do over again.
Jenna's BFF and business partner, Aimee has just passed away. It was something that everyone knew was coming, but it's still not something anyone could be fully prepared for.
The book takes us through the period after Aimee's death where Jenna has to learn what life is like without her heterosexual life mate (it's a thing, and I totally have one!). There's also a catch... she has been willed Aimee's widow, who is kind of the epitome of a man child.
Jenna never understood what Aimee saw in him, but through their period of willed time together, she begins to see Wayne in a different light and begins to learn why Aimee loved him. Their friendship definitely has some ups and downs, but in the end, it all works out to everyone's advantage.
At the end of the book, we see that Aimee did not just will Wayne to Jenna, but she also willed Jenna to Wayne in one of the most thoughtful reasoning that someone could have for doing so.
The internal dialogue between Jenna and Aimee's voice is what truly makes the book, and even though my bestie is still alive and kicking, I know her well enough that when I'm making important decisions, I almost don't have to call her but can hear her voice in my head. (Is that a thing that everyone has with their bestie? Please say yes!)
Read this book. Now.
