Cheesecake Nutella Twists...With a Twist!

I've been seeing this recipe pop up everywhere: Facebook, Pinterest, Twitter, you name a social media outlet, I've seen this recipe on it.

Cheesecake Nutella Twists - cheesecake and Nutella wrapped in a crescent roll makes a great breakfast treat

I love Nutella, and I had some to finish off. Who doesn't love cream cheese and crescent rolls? All signs screamed GO! so I set out to make these for breakfast before church on Sunday.

Until I realized I was missing one key ingredient.

Someone finished off the last of the Nutella!

No worries, I'm a mom (sometimes...) and that makes me a professional in these situations (not at all). I dug through the pantry until I found the last of a bag of chocolate chips and rationalized that this would be close enough.

Armed with a my backup plan, I was ready to get started.

Cream cheese, egg, sugar. What this picture doesn't tell you is that I went through three bowls in an effort to make this creamy. I was convinced the other bowls were "too big" to allow my ingredients to combine as they were supposed to. (Uh huh...I blamed the bowl.)

Dump the mix, sprinkle with chocolate chips. What can go wrong? Oh wait, the crescent rolls that don't want to come out of the tubes! These were even Pilsbury and one of them still stuck to the tube and I had to perform reconstructive surgery. I think they turned out ok?

I splurged on that extra 40 cents in an effort to prevent this!

As I put these little guys in the oven, I sent up a quick prayer that they wouldn't fall apart...

... and they didn't! This is the point where I should have drizzled them with something to make them look pretty, but I'm a lazy cook. They look just fine to me, so I vetoed the sprinkling.

B Family Rating:

My mom suggested that I make these to bring the next time our Sunday School class is responsible for the church fellowship breakfast, so I think they were a hit.
