A former coworker had been talking about this book on her Facebook page before it was published, and I kept mental tabs to keep checking because I wanted to read it when it was published. It was published last summer, and I just happened to see an article on it a few weeks ago.
Since I still have some credit on the Amazon gift card that my brother gave me for Christmas, I looked into purchasing the e-book. However, the price was a little steeper than what I am willing to pay for an e-book.
I then decided to check and see if my library had it. They had an e-book version, and I was able to finally read this book and achieve a library right of passage all at once.
This book takes you on the journey of Gary Stewart as he uncovers clues of his biological father. Based on things that he has found out, he believes that his father is the Zodiac Killer.
You see why I wanted to read it, right?
For those of you who don't me very well, I love true crime stories. I'm also greatly intrigued by the psychological profiles of those who commit violent crimes. In some way, I want to understand what drives a person to commit these kind of acts.
I started reading this book a little skeptical.
Stewart was adopted. After meeting with his biological mother, he begins to try and figure out all he can about his biological father.
However, the pieces of the puzzle that Stewart put together, while circumstantial, lead him to believe that his biological father was the Zodiac Killer. The evidence he presents is very convincing, and makes me wish they had gotten results from the DNA that he voluntarily provided to the San Francisco Police Department.
I wish this left me with definitive proof that the man named as the Zodiac is indeed the Zodiac.
Perhaps the man named in the book is the Zodiac, perhaps he isn't. We may never know the man truly responsible for the Zodiac murders. Perhaps the Zodiac got what he really wanted in being immortalized, or perhaps he didn't get since nobody still knows his true identity.
Or do we?
