A Book Based On or Turned Into a TV Show

To be honest, I didn't even know this was the series that True Blood was based on until my co-worker told me. I began reading it based on a recommendation and am now anxiously awaiting the next book in the series from my library.

Books that deal with anything supernatural are usually not my thing. Most of my friends know to disclose this to me when recommending a book. I think the friend who recommended it did not tell me about it because she knew I probably wouldn't read it if I knew that.

I'm glad she didn't.

Being from Louisiana, it took me a while to get over the interchanging of parish and county. (Especially when it was literally in back to back sentences.) And making it seem as if it's "not that long of a drive" from Northern Louisiana to New Orleans bugged the crap out of me. (It could be me, but a 5 hour drive one way seems like more than "not that long of a drive" to me.) But once I got over those minor (not so minor) details, I enjoyed the book.

I'm still kicking myself for not figuring out the killer on my own, and I think that's why I'm willing to continue with this series for a bit. (Even though everyone tells me it jumps the shark around books 7-9).

B Star Rating:

UPDATE: I'm currently on Book 5 of the series with a hold placed on Book 6 through my library.
