A Trilogy...Started?
I've never really been a fan of trilogies or series when it comes to books because that requires a large time commitment. However, in my effort to knock the trilogy challenge out early on, I decided to take to Pinterest in search of a trilogy to read. This one was recommended, and let me tell you, this first book was a little tough to get through for me.
I talked to a few friends who have read this trilogy and they loved it. While I was able to finish the first book, my attempts to get through the second book caved around chapter 11. I forced myself to finish the first book because I wanted to see if Cassia and Ky said "Screw society! We love each other and will be together!"
I was also more curious with what Cassia's grandfather gave her before his death ceremony. (Whatever keeps you interested, right?)
I enjoyed the concept of the book when my friends told me about it. When you're 17, society selects your perfect matched based on science. Like online dating, and let me be the first to say that online dating companies don't always get it right. Some of my matches...what are these computers thinking?!
Anyway...
Cassia is matched with her friend Xander, but when she gets home and looks over her microchip of her match *gasp* Ky's face pops up instead! Once I finish reading the book to see how that came to be, I got slightly annoyed with "society", but decided to attempt book 2.
However, I found that I really didn't care what happens to these characters. Society had annoyed me too much, and I'm sure these crazy kids in love will overcome it, but they didn't keep me interested enough to find out for myself.
Looks like I'm back to the drawing board on this trilogy hunt. Any recommendations?
