Christopher Robin Was Right

I've found a new stride in this whole Fitness Adventure of 2015. Not to steal from Dolvett's 3-2-1 diet (I haven't read the book, and honestly don't know what it's really about), but I've adopted sort of a 3-2-1 fitness method that is totally working for me. 3 days of C25K, 2 days of strength training, 1 day of yoga/flexibility training. The rest day is a given, plus 3-2-1-1 didn't sound near as awesome. Unless Dolvett had a  3-2-1-1- diet, then it would sound cool.

These past two days have shown me just how far I've come on this fitness journey.

This is the week in C25K where they throw in running for 3 minutes straight. (Because the man wants you to hate yourself.) I told myself that if I couldn't run for the whole 3 minutes, it was ok. I prepared myself for failure, because that's what I do. BUT I didn't need to prepare myself for failure, because I dominated those 3 minute runs.

Next, part of my strength training regimen has involved planks. I decided to get a little crazy and do a 30 second plan to go with each of the four rounds of weights I was doing. I expected to maybe get through two of them, and then give up in the middle of the third one. Guess what? I planked like a boss. (Real planks, not even the modified planks!)

But the thing that made it all real? When I put on the dress I was planning to wear to graduation. I've bought plenty of dresses that have come with a belt attached to them, but have never been able to wear the attached belt. Knowing this, I still buy the dresses and I still attempt to belt them. Then this happened:

That's right! I was able to easily put the belt on! Now, does it look fabulous? I think so, but you might not. I know I've got more work to do, but this is a huge accomplishment to me and nothing is taking it away from me.

Moral of this story? Fictional children's character's are always right. Listen to them.

“If ever there is tomorrow when we're not together... there is something you must always remember. You are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think. But the most important thing is, even if we're apart... I'll always be with you.” - Christopher Robin to Winnie-the-Pooh

Fit Friday Tip

During this year long Fitness Adventure, I'm going to randomly be sharing some tips that I learn over the course of the year that help me along this path.

This tip has helped me be able to maintain the consistency of keeping up the workouts. It's a tip that I've pulled back out from my college days.

Always put workout clothes on as soon as you walk in the door.

If you are an evening gym rat, like me, putting your workout clothes on as soon as you walk in the door can not just get you in the mindset to workout, but also keep you in the mindset to work out.

For me, if I have the sports bra on, then I'm going to workout before taking it off. It applies a little feeling if guilt if I change from workout clothes to my pjs without getting the workout in.

Sometimes a little guilt goes in a long way in making me think about if I'm really tired, if my body really needs a break, or if I just don't want to do it. This has helped me stay consistent over the past month and a half, and I hope it works for y'all too!

Let's Do This

This could very well be the hardest post that I do all year, so it's best to get it out of the way early, right?

I wasn't home yesterday, so I didn't get around to this until today. It's time to get all of my stats together to start this Fitness Adventure.

My Jessica Smith #Quickfit Challenge is coming to an end tomorrow. Sunday I will begin the Blogilates Beginners Calendar. Before I start diving in, I should probably see how I measure up.

Ouch!

That wasn't pretty, but it is what it is.

Time to get to work.

Prepping for 2015 - Adventure #1

Each day this week, I'll be sharing with you my adventures for 2015. Most people call them resolutions, but I prefer to think of them as yearly adventures.

I'm starting with the one that won't come as a surprise to anyone, because it's one that most people make. My first adventure for 2015, is a Fitness Adventure. I've dropped all but 10 pounds of the weight I gained 3 years ago when I had kiddo. However, I fluctuate between the weight I was at and the weight I am now.

When I got pregnant, I was on a Fitness Adventure. I was knocked up 2 weeks before my first (and only) half marathon, and nobody but me knew that I ran it while pregnant. I had lost 60 pounds, and then gained most of it back when I was pregnant with poor eating habits and a lax workout plan.

I've made a plan for 2015. Much to my surprise, it didn't take me long to get a tentative plan in place for the entire year. Between the free workout resources that I've been using online, and the collection of workout DVDs I've accumulated over the year, this year should be an interesting one.

I've decided to start the year off with the Pop Pilates for Beginners calendar at Blogilates. (Click on the calender below to see what it's all about!) I've been dabbling with some of Cassey's videos for over a year now. I LOVE her Bikini Blaster workouts and her Pop Challenges are perfect for when I don't have a whole lot of time and just want to get my move on. (It's hard to listen to Call Me Maybe without squatting now!) Anywho, here is what I'll be starting next Sunday. (I finish this week up with Jessica Smith and then I'll move on.)

I plan to use this blog more as an accountability tool for myself as I go through this new Fitness Adventure. Each week I'll post updates on how my progress is going, and each month will have updates on my stats. This is going to be more revealing than I would like, but I need the accountability to stay on track.

My goal for this adventure is to get into "Onederland" as they call it on The Biggest Loser. However, I would be satisfied with just being in the onderland state of mind. I want to feel strong and confident in my body again. Here's to Fitness Adventure 2015!
